air. plus, the mudslides and flooding and tornado, the west coast is reeling from a monster storm that slammed ashore. meteorologist chris sowers joins us to look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, a lot quieter for us this morning. >> reporter: fortunately, because it's about a rough week with our fair share of weather from gusty winds to heavy rains and heavy snow showers we saw thursday, right now it's nice and quiet. there's the view of the camden waterfront. we're dealing with the coastal system that's spinning up in new england. the effects will be less and less and less each and everyday from this day on. windchills are blustery, you'll need to bundle up when you head outdoors, 29 in philadelphia. 29 in trenton, 26 in the poconos. the freezing mark in allentown, 26 in lancaster and 23 in wilmington, bone-chilling 21 in dover. satellite and radar shows clear skies across delaware and new

jersey, a few high clouds are moving in across the western suburbs. accuweather thinks sun and clouds is a good bet for today. there's the counter clockwise spin, this is the coastal low, it stopped dead in it's traction once it reached -- it's tracks once it reached new england. thanks to a blocking high. we had cloud cover an scattered showers and it's been a miserable week. today we'll see more in the way of sun. temperatures on the chilly side, lunchtime, 40 degrees, 3:00 p.m., 42. when i come back in just a bit i'll talk about the warmup and and the exclusive accuweather a seven day forecast. >> thanks, chris, we're following breaks news at this saturday morning, philadelphia firefighters are battling an early-morning fire in the city's strawberry mansion section. you can see the smoke coming from the building there. crews were called out to the

2700 block of west lehigh avenue around 5:18 where they found the heavy smoke coming from the third floor of a three-story home located, as you can see right there in the middle of block. crews are battling the fire this morning, several residents have been evacuated from nearby homes and the lehigh avenue has been shut down between 26th and 28th street. this is a live view there, you can see all the firefighters still on the scene, again, lehigh avenue has been shut down between 26th and 28th street we'll continue to monitor this breaking news, and bring it to you on air and online at a massive storm is leaving a huge path of destruction behind in california. the long-lasting powerful storm has wreaked havoc from washington state to the los angeles logs.

fellow firefighters saluted her family. she leaves behind a 16-year-old son and 16-month-old daughter. >> she managed to balance her job and motherhood very well. i'm going to miss her. i'm proud of her. >> she was concerned of all people, no matter how old or what color, she was a heart-loving person of all people. >> hundreds of friends, nam and colleagues lined up around the block of the funeral home to pay their respects. craig is the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty. new this morning, a dozen people are homeless after a safire destroyed their home, you can see the flames consumed the back of the home in the 2400 block of ham money place in mill creek. firefighters were called to the home at 2:00 a.m. it took 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

the red cross is helping the 12 people who live in the home. new this morning, the search is on for a gunman who shot a young man during an early-morning attempted robbery in philadelphia. the action cam was on the scene the 5500 block of somerdale avenue in the assortment ton section of the -- somerton section of the city. during the confrontation, the suspect shot the man in the leg, the victim is in stable condition, the gunman ran off. two people were hurt when a mercedes smashed into their car in camden. the people inside took off. the action cam was on the scene haddon avenue near coke wood street. two people in the car that the mercedes hit were taken to the hospital, one in serious condition, the other was treated and released. officers say several people were inside the mercedes, they all left the scene. rapper and philadelphia native beanie sigel is

hospitalized in critical condition a week after he was shot. sigel whose given name dwight grant was gunned down at a pleasantville home last friday. detectives have questioned a person of interest, and looking to question another person of interest, both of relatives. in a bucks county courtroom yesterday, he was convicted of stealing $2.5 million. she told a jury that he stole $650,000, money that was supposed to to go toward the construction of a second home at the shore. >> i had to higher another build it cost 400,000 to build the house. in total i paid are a million doors for a 400,000-dollar home. >> he was convicted of 27 felony charges. the 59 faces up to 135 years

behind bars. sentencing is scheduled for next week. >> happening today, the u.s. senate plans to hold a rare saturday session after a $1.1 trillion spending package was delayed. the house has passed the bill to give the senate time, president obama signed a law to keep the government funded through the day and prevent a shut down. a vote may not come until early next week. president obama will be making a visit to new jersey on monday, the president will travel to joint base mcguire dix, lakehurst to thank the soldiers for their sacrifice. atlantic city has granted request by revel entertainment to cancel the sale to the

canadian company. the judge has scheduled an early january hearing to consider the request to award the sale to the auction's runner-up, a florida developer for $95 million. richard stockton college has completed it's purchase of the former showboat casino hotel in atlantic city. the gallon away township based college will use the showboat as a second campus and operate a hotel with 479 rooms. stockton paid 18 millions dollars for the former casino. looking to buy a home? why you may not need such a big down payment to qualify. plus an icy river leads to flooding concerns in one midwestern state. chris. >> reporter: eva, things are starting to moderate out there across the midwest. it's milder in chicago than it is in philadelphia, all that mild air is heading this way. i'll let you know when it

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, 6:23, time for the traveling forecast. for that we'll start you out on the west coast. this area was slammed with heavy rains and gusty winds. now we're seeing a pattern change, see a counter clockwise swirl off the west coast. that's an area of low pressure. the winds are racing out of the southwest. this area will jump the rockies and it will travel to the west and pick up milder air down in

it's a final farewell to a fallen firefighter, funeral services will be held this morning for joyce craig the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty in philadelphia. she died while battling a blaze in the west oak lane section on tuesday, now, her family and friends and colleagues from all over will say goodbye. annie mccormick has more from bachelor brothers funeral home. >> reporter: a police escort brought fallen firefighter joyce craig family members to the bachelor brothers funeral home in west oak lane. there her firefighter brothers and sisters saluted her family. craig leaves behind a 16-year-old son and 16-month-old daughter. >> she managed to balance the job and morehood very, very well -- motherhood very, very well. >> reporter: hundreds of friends and family and colleagues spoke

handicap woman was killed when she lost control of her car on the boulevard. the car smashed into a tree and burst into flames near north 5th street in hunting park at 2:30 a.m. several people tried to rescue the woman. no word on what caused the woman to lose control of the vehicle. a man trying to outrun police crashes his car in northeast philadelphia. investigators say this is where the car went out of control at 11:10 p.m. the man in his 30s was trapped in his car. police and medics freed him and took him to the hospital where's in critical condition. police have not said why they were pursuing the man. several children were hurt in the crash on the schuylkill expressway that left two cars overturned. it happened last night in the eastbound lanes near the blue route near west conshohocken. police say a total of five cars

were involved in the accident. three kids were rushed to children's hospital philadelphia with non-life threatening injuries. a close employee of m knight shyamalan is accused of stealing from the director. prosecutors say she made $15,000 worth of personal purchases on a credit card while on the job. code will be sentenced in february and faces up to 7 years in prison. a federal judge will not delay a lawsuit brought by actor tracy morgan. he was severely injured last summer when a walmart truck smashed into his car on the turnpike. roper is not named as a defendant in the case, morgan's attorney argued walmart was

forecast. 35 degrees in philadelphia. dewpoint, 23. wind out of the northwestly at 13 miles per hour. pressure reading, 30.04 inches. you factor in the winds it feels like the low to mid 20s out there. 28 in the poconos. 34 in trenton, 35 in philadelphia, millville, 30. again, winds, biting a little bit. right now out of the west/northwest. 13 miles per hour. wilmington, 17. dover, 16. poconos 12. him again, it makes it feel like the low to mid 20s. we'll be deal with the breeze all day long, we've been dealing with the breeze all week long thanks to the nor'easter that continues to spin off the coast of maine. starting to weaken a little bit, but nonetheless still a breezy day out there. this evening, dealing with the breezes at 15 to 20 miles per hour. the wind will make it feel like the 30s. tuesday's nor'easter is still sitting maybe 350 miles per hour

away it hadn't moved that much because it has run into a block. we've seen the counter clockwise bands over the last several days 2k3we9 -- get lower and lower. one day we'll see rain showers and snow showers and rain after that. it's miss he he -- miserable, because the pattern has stalled out over the eastern seaboard. the storm will shift the winds west to east, that means milder weather for us. as you look ahead, high pressure in control, this is a pacific high this time around not a canadian high, it will be chilly today, but tomorrow we'll see the improvement with highs climbing into the upper 40s by the time we get into monday and tuesday with this storm approaching, winds will shift out of the southwest. there's a chance we could touch 50 degrees by tuesday afternoon.
